Cloak Humanizer (Chrome extension)

Cloak Humanizer scores any text for AI-tell density and rewrites it locally in your browser. It does not call any remote server.

Getting started

  1. Install Cloak Humanizer from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click the toolbar icon, paste a paragraph, and click Humanize, or
  3. Select text on any web page, right-click, and choose Humanize with Cloak.

Frequently asked

Does Cloak Humanizer send my text anywhere?

No. All scoring and rewriting runs locally in your browser. The extension makes zero network requests. The only thing stored is your settings and a local daily counter.

Why is there a daily cap?

The free tier is limited to 10 humanizations per local day. The cap exists so the extension stays free for casual use while heavier users have a reason to upgrade once a paid tier launches. The counter resets at local midnight.

The Humanize button does nothing when I click it.

Two common causes:

If neither matches what you are seeing, email us and include your Chrome version (chrome://version).

The right-click menu item does not open the popup.

The right-click flow uses chrome.action.openPopup(), which requires Chrome 127 or newer. Update Chrome and try again. If you are on Chrome 127+ and it still does not open, click the toolbar icon manually — the selection is held for 60 seconds and will appear in the popup when you open it.

A banned word in my industry is actually correct in context. Can I keep it?

Yes. Open the extension's options page (toolbar icon menu → "Manage extension" → "Extension options", or click "Settings" in the popup footer) and disable the category that contains the word. The four categories are:

Disabling a category stops both the scoring and the rewriting for that group.

Does the extension work in Edge, Brave, Opera, or Arc?

The extension targets Chrome and any Chromium-based browser that supports Manifest V3 and chrome.action.openPopup. It is published only on the Chrome Web Store. Other browsers can side-load it via developer mode at their own risk.

How do I uninstall? Will my data be removed?

Right-click the extension icon → "Remove from Chrome." Chrome wipes the extension's local storage at uninstall. We never had a copy.
